Whitney Jaynes

Obituary of Whitney Ashlyn Jaynes

Whitney Ashlyn Jaynes, age 20, of Westfield, NY passed away, on November 21, 2018 in Hamburg, NY, following a courageous battle with the evils of addiction

Whitney was born on January 26, 1998 in Millcreek Community Hospital, PA and graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 2016.

She participated in band, chorus, cheerleading, tap and ballet, and soccer. Whitney was a sensitive spiritual soul that loved EDM music, meditation, the outdoors and spending time with her fiancée Tyler, and friends and family. She was bright and articulate with a vibrant personality that touched the lives of many.

Whitney was embarking on a career as a recovery coach in NY State. Recently she’d received her certification to begin supervised hours that were required. She had struggled with addiction issues and while in recovery at the Renaissance House in West Seneca, NY, participated in interventions and was a KED (Kids Escaping Drugs) speaker for middle and high school students, outlining the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. Recently Whitney participated in a documentary that will be released soon to schools and recovery houses across the US. Her vibrant personality and compassion for others created quite an impact on those struggling with addiction.

Whitney is survived by her parents Jeffrey and Jody Dodd-Jaynes, her sister Brianna, half-sister Rachel Jaynes, half-brothers, Gordon Jaynes, all of Westfield and  Jacob Jaynes of Silverton, Oregon, her Grandmother Suzanne (Grant) Dodd, and Grandparents Neal and Marilyn (Perdue) Jaynes of Westfield.

She was preceded in death by her Grandfather Thomas Dodd.

Addiction is a disease that does not discriminate. The recovery is life long and a relapse at any time can erase an entire future.

Whitney we love and miss you. You will remain in our hearts forever.
