About Us
Founded in 1896 in the Village of Westfield, the Carpenter Funeral Service was the trusted name in Funerals for over 59 years. Emma Carpenter and her son Carlton, “Carpy”, as he was known by all, were charged with the care of Westfield’s departed sons and daughters.
In 1955 the Carpenters retired and sold their business to Ralph and Margery Wallace. The name of the establishment was changed to Wallace Funeral Home. The Wallace family served Westfield from 1955 until their retirement in 1980. Ralph died in 1988 and Margery died in 1994.
In 1980, John H. Brewer purchased the Wallace Funeral Home and changed its name to Brewer Funeral Home.
In the fall of 1993, Scott and Debbie Mason purchased the Funeral Home and changed it’s name to the MASON Funeral Home in order to reflect their ownership. Scott and Debbie proudly operated the funeral home for nearly 27 years when in June of 2020 they retired and sold the business to Michael K. Blodgett, who continues to operate the Funeral Home with dignity and respect for the communities that he serves.
Since our founding, the guiding principle of MASON Funeral Home has been the commitment to treating each family who comes to us as our own.
The MASON Funeral Home has carried on the trusted tradition of being a locally owned and operated family Funeral Home since 1896. Traditional Funeral Services, Cremation Services, Memorial Services, Pre-Planning/Pre-Arranging and Pre-Paying services are just a few of the many customized services available through the MASON Funeral Home.
The benefits of choosing the MASON Funeral Home are many. As a family owned and operated funeral firm, we believe we are better prepared to serve your family.
Here are several reasons why:
- Personal pride
- Personalized services
- Professionalism
- A focus on families, not profits
- A knowledge of local customs
- A nationwide network to serve you and your family beyond our local boundaries
- An investment and commitment to our community
- Ongoing education of our staff
With sincerity, pride, and dedication, we are committed to this time-honored tradition.
Our family opened the doors of the funeral home years ago. Our reputation for providing the highest quality of service grew, and today we are privileged to serve many families from Westfield, NY, Ripley, NY, Brocton, NY and Mayville, NY each year.
In recent years, we’ve gathered together a staff of highly-qualified and deeply caring individuals to assist us in continuing the funeral home’s mission of providing excellence in service to families in their time of need.
It's nice to know who you're working with. If you're like most people, whenever you're buying a car or hiring a lawn service, you find it's nicer to work with a small company. You like the flexibility and personal service you can get when you talk directly with the owner.
We feel the same way.
After all, the more you know about us, the more you'll come to appreciate the difference. Please contact us for more information regarding any questions you may have. We welcome inquiries.
Whether you have an immediate need for our services or you wish to begin pre-planning a funeral arrangement for you or someone you love, call us. We will be proud to serve you.
