Obituary of Nora Alonge

WESTFIELD - Nora (Emery) Alonge, age 83, formerly of Westfield, died Friday, July 6, 2018 at Chautauqua Nursing And Rehab Center of Dunkirk, NY following an extended illness. She was born September 20, 1934 in Turkey City, PA. a daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (Sarver) Emery. A Westfield resident most all her life, Nora graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 1952 and married Nicholas Alonge on August 15, 1953 at St. James RC Church in Westfield, NY. Nick preceded her in death on July 11, 2015 after 61 years of marriage. Nora went to work at Marine Midland Bank in Westfield, NY on the recommendation of her business teacher as a Platform Worker. She had also been employed by Loblaws and returned to the bank to finish out a distinguished banking career. Nora was a member of St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church of Westfield, NY and was a life member of the Church's Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed counter cross stitch, knitting and playing cards. She was an awesome cook and was known for her spaghetti sauce. Her family was everything to her. Family gatherings at the Alonge home were a regular occurrence. Nora is survived by her three daughters: Cynthia (Andy) Ippolito of Fredonia, NY, Janice (Floyd) Metzger of Huntington, WV and Nancy (Anthony) Dunbar of Dunkirk, NY, and one son, Andrew (Michelle) Alonge of Westfield, NY she is further survived by her four sisters: Geraldine Gamble, Lucille Black, Betty Gilbert and Patricia Archer , all of Westfield, NY, and her two brothers: Clifford "Sonny"(Marilyn) Emery, Jr. and Kenneth(Beverly) Emery, both of Westfield, NY. Nine Grand Children and four Great Grandchildren also survive. Family and friends are invited to call at the MASON Funeral Home, 37 Clinton Street, Westfield, NY 14787 on Tuesday, July10, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11am at St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Union Street, Westfield, NY with Fr. Romeo Hontiveros officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation, 189 East Main Street, Westfield, NY 14787 or to the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Dr. Buffalo, NY 14221.
