Obituary of Herbert C. Marker

WESTFIELD - Herbert C. Marker, age 80, of McKinley Road, Westfield, formerly of the Jamestown area, died Friday, May 18, 2018 at home in Westfield following a brief illness. Herbert was born on December 12, 1937 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Herbert C. and Charolotte (Walsh) Marker. He married the former Shirley M. Palmer. Sadly, Shirley preceded him in death on Sept.15, 2011. A Westfield resident since 1991, Herb moved from the Jamestown area and had been employed at various shops as a Machine Operator. Herb was an avid HAM Radio Operator, who's call signal was N2PCN. He enjoyed making friends and visiting local coffee clutches and was a regular member of the Chautauqua Adult Day Care at the Westfield YWCA. He is survived by one daughter: Marilyn Purdy of Ventura, CA as well as his grandchildren, Christopher Marker, Kristina Levin and Lindsay Windsor, and by his 2 great grandchildren, Kameron and Kayden. Herb is further survived by his many friends especially his neighbor, Sandy Cunningham and her family and his best friend and fellow HAM Radio operator, Larry Dipzinski of Jamestown. In addition to his wife, Shirley, Herb was preceded in death by his two sons, Herbert C. Marker, Jr., and Robert L. Marker, and by his daughter, Deborah L. Marker. Friends are invited to attend a Graveside gathering on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 11 AM in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer, NY. Memorials may be made to the Fire Department of Westfield Memorial Fund, 23 Elm Street, Westfield, NY 14787.
